Getting Started

So you want to become an Adult Webmaster do you? As someone who has done it for over 4 years now, I will tell you right off the bat that it is not an easy way to make a living. However, with diligence and hard work, you too can be making a good supplemental, or a full time income by promoting adult pornography.
First off, there are many things to consider when starting up a site or blog for adult site promotion.
1. Sexual Orientation – What sexual orientation are you interested in promoting? Straight? Gay? Transexual? Bisexual? From a lot of people’s standpoints, it’s best to promote that which turns you on the most. This way you can put as much passion and sincerity into your delivery as you try to sell. Gay folks should more often than not sell gay porn. Vice versa if you are straight. Bisexual folks can probably sell both providing they love both sexes equally.
This is only mine and others’ opinions. None of it is written in stone. Having as open a mind as possible benefits everyone involved in the adult industry. However, being practical in your choices can save you a lot of time, aggravation, and even money.
2. Choosing Niches – Chances are if you’re into skinny little “Barbie Doll” women, you might have a hard time trying to sell BBWs or Mature babes with a few extra pounds. Really look inside yourself when deciding what niches to promote.
How about Micro Niches? A Micro Niche is a niche within another niche. Confused yet? No worries. Imagine BBWs who pee in public, or gay men into smelly jockstraps. Those would be considered micro niches.
3. Promotional Platforms/Web Hosting – Do you plan on promoting sites using a blog or blogs, or do you have some web site experience and plan to go the Free Site or TGP/MGP route?
In this day and age of increasingly easy platforms to create web sites and blogs with, there are many options available to you. If you’re starting off with a shoe-string budget, there are free blog hosts who provide more than you need to get started promoting your sites. There are free adult hosts out there as well, but I really do not recommend them as most are fly-by-night operations which usually end up disappearing out of the blue, and your sites along with them.
For more information on web hosting and free blog hosts, visit the RESOURCES page.
4. Sponsors – Ahh yes, your “meat and potatoes” when it comes to getting content to promote. You must be very vigilant when it comes to choosing your sponsors. Do some research on them before you sign up and start posting their images and media on your sites. I will try to review as many sponsors for you as possible so you have more information for making your choices. However, it’s also up to you to Google your niches and find out what is over exposed etc. Some things to watch for:
a) How good of quality is the media?
While you don’t want to provide the highest quality images and video to your surfers, you don’t want them getting utter garbage either. You don’t have to be a media expert to know these things. Use your own eyes and mind to decide. Would you sign up with a site where the video stutters and the performers are barely visible? Or do you want porn that you can see clearly and catch every nuance of the actions taking place?
b) What tools are there to promote with?
Signing up with an Affiliate Program doesn’t necessarily mean you MUST promote them. Sign up, go inside the affiliate area, and see what they’ve got to offer. I do it all the time. If they don’t have Free Hosted Galleries or Free Downloadable Content, then chances are I won’t bother with them. The whole idea is to get people to WANT a membership with that particular site. If they can’t see what’s inside, why the hell would they shell out money for a membership? It’s only logical.
c) Payment Options – There was a time when all Adult Webmasters got paid by checks in the mail. We all know the aggravation and frustration this can cause at times. However, in the 21st century things have a come a long way and getting paid by check is now about 99.9% safe. There are also now many other options available for getting paid for your hard work. Here are the main ones:
a) Check – CCBill, Epoch, Verotel, and a few others all pay by check. Some weekly, some bi-weekly, and some monthly.
b) Epassporte – If you’ve got credit problems and can’t secure a “real” credit card, Epassporte can be a real saviour. It’s $35 to get an account set up and have a Virtual Card sent to you which you can use at over 1 million ATM locations across the world. Go over to the Epassporte site to read more…
c) Bank Wire Transfer – Yes, it’s true. Some payment processors can wire your payments right to your bank account. It’s safe and secure, but can be costly and sometimes a pain to set up. Be sure this option is good for you.
Important Tips
The Adult Webmaster community is huge. Thousands and thousands of people across the world are looking for ways to make extra money. So the competition is quite fierce to say the least. However, because we all benefit from helping one another, it can also be a closenit community when you get to know people. One of the best ways to do this is on Forums or Message Boards. Refer to the RESOURCES page for a link to a list of informative places you can hang out at and learn, learn, learn.
One of the most important things to remember about this industry is that it is forever changing. This is the only way to keep it fresh and alive and continue to provide quality adult entertainment for those who seek it out. Thus, keeping up with the newest changes can only benefit you in a great way. Always keep an open mind, share your knowledge with those who seem sincere and hardworking, and never forget where you came from when you get rich. LOL!!!
Best of luck to you!
